Brazilian vocalist Alda Rezende has spent nearly four decades performing across Brazil and Aotearoa New Zealand. Born and raised in Belo Horizonte, she began her career in Brazil's major music circuits. Since moving to New Zealand in 2002, Alda has become a pioneering figure in the country's Brazilian music scene and has presented Global Pulse, Wellington's long-running world music programme on Radio Active, for twenty years. Her career has taken her to festivals across New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Europe and the United States.

For this quartet, Alda is joined by three of Wellington's most respected jazz musicians. On piano, Duncan Haynes — recently returned home after two decades performing and teaching across London, Paris and Lima — has quickly become one of the most sought-after players on the local scene.
