About the event
The Undercurrent presents Folk & Funk!
Join us for a night of wonderful sonic textures fortified by Traditional Irish Music and Indie-Folk.
To start we have the debut of Múinteoir. Her music takes influence from contemporary Irish folk artists like Lankum and Lisa O'Neill. Her vocals will make you feel the pull of Ireland’s soul from 19,000km away.
Followed by Pohātu's EP release featuring new friends and old. Folk, Funk, and Fun all bundled into one. Good grooves, stupid stories, and heartfelt music. Pōhatu leans funk with an emphasis on the silly. Sounds between Vulfpeck and Kendrick Lamar, with a bit of fun sprinkled in.
Finally, Dunluvly will tease a new record that is set for release in early September. Their sound is a mix of Psychedelic Indie and Irish Folk music reminiscent of Ben Howard and the XX. With a traditional Irish influence their melodies sound old and new all…
