About the event

Hope Floats is a book about the changing seasons of life: love, loss and everything in between. It speaks to the beauty in moments and the importance of freedom. It’s about family connections and what we pass down through the generations. And it’s a book about the strength of a woman, and the risks of farming. I hope you can see yourself in some of these poems.

Rebekah Burgess was born in Derby, England, and mostly grew up in the Manawatu and Rangitikei. She is a photographer, former journalist and public servant, and performance poet. Along with frequenting open mic events in the Wellington region many years ago, Rebekah has performed at the East West Poetry Festival in Palmerston North and was guest poet for Hawke’s Bay Live Poets’ Society in Hastings.
