The Bitter Brothers with the Downundermutts
A bit of folk, sometimes more honky-tonk, country and western, sometimes a touch of swing, or an old time American style; every show is a musical and a family reunion.

About the event
The Bitter Brothers are a family band who write and play traditional and original old time, country, folk, and bluegrass hits; from good time Saturday night songs to Sunday morning repentance and gospel.
Their performances are sometimes comic, theatrical, sometimes deadly serious; their music, an echoed lament from a distant past balanced with a sometime tender optimism for the future. Above all else, their watchwords are variety and entertainment, continually changing the mood and sound over the course of their shows with an eye and an ear bent towards a more entertaining variety than your usual musical fare. The Bitter Brothers offer sometimes guitar songs, sometimes banjo, sometimes accordion, fiddle, ukulele, harmonies and differing vocal arrangements, we may pull out a musical saw, a harmonica, a couple of pieces of metal detritus we found in the road that have that perfect percussive bite when banged together. You never quite know what to expect at a Bitter Brothers show, but you will often be surprised, amused, and most assuredly entertained.
With their line-up somewhat fluidly changing as they from time to time discover new Bitter family members, The Bitter Brothers bring together a variety of different musical backgrounds and thus push along the edges of the Americana genre, sometimes a bit of folk, sometimes more honky-tonk, country and western, sometimes a touch of swing, or an old time American style; every show is a musical reunion and a family reunion. Let’s celebrate together. We will kick off the evening with a set of originals and vintage country from the ever enjoyable and entertaining Peter and Cathy Dyer in their latest incarnation, The Downundermutts, followed by The Bitter Brothers. There will be keening howls of loss, nostalgic reveries, astonishing recoveries, joyous manifestations, and good old fashioned, toe-tapping fun. Come on down and soak it up, you won’t regret it!

The Downundermutts
Featuring originals and vintage country.
For many years, Peter and Cathy Dyer have listened to, loved, written, played, and sung beautiful, powerful and moving music that comes straight from the heart of their native land, the USA. Somewhere along the line, the term “Americana” appeared. Our music finally had a label! On Friday 5 August, we will be delighted to set the stage for the Bitter Brothers with the likes of Hank Williams Sr, the Louvin Brothers, originals and more. Be sure and get there in time for the opener. Caution--there could be yodelling!”
