About the event
Doors open at 7 when you can get settled in with some of our delicious warming food and drinks The Kist present sensitive, authentic songs, channelling the human condition through music. Our members are Jude, Rusty and Pat. Jude plays fiddle, banjo, guitar and sings. Rusty plays cello and sings Pat plays flute, guitar, whistles and sings. Pat's been playing traditional acoustic music for thirty years and in 2021, at a music festival, he heard the sound of a cello through the trees. There, in the backwoods, was Rusty playing his cello. Our music is rooted in Irish traditional, Gaelic, Te Reo, Americana, old-time, and includes some original songs by Pat. Acoustic, gentle, sensitive for the most part, with a smattering of up-tempo numbers. Pat plays finger-style guitar, and the combination of wooden flute mixed with the violin and cello makes for a refined almost drawing-room sound. Perhaps you could call it "Chamber-Folk”. The Kist finds appreciative audiences in Wellington music venues, music clubs and have performed for the Irish Embassy. Support Act - Helena Faust Opens A window to the old world - Ballads and songs from the Appalachian Mountains.
