About the event

Join us for a new regular event - The Sunflower Club: Meditation and Poetry. The fortnightly gathering will be hosted by Eli Freeman, who you can learn more about below!

This event aims to create a sense of community by introducing people to meditation (or supporting them in their practice) and creating a safe space to share their creative expression in a more intimate setting than your average spoken word night.

The focus will be on poetry, spoken word and storytelling with about 10 minutes per participant. Due to the more intimate nature of the event, we hope you'll feel encouraged and supported to be more vulnerable, sharing work you perhaps haven’t before or feeling more comfortable performing than you might at a normal open mic.

Names will be written down and pulled out of a hat, leaving performance to chance rather than first come first serve.

Attendance is open to the public - we may limit numbers to keep the event small, but we’ll see how it goes!

Koha entry.

Proposed Agenda (subject to slight changes):

7pm - 7:10pm: Settling in

7:10pm - 7:20pm: Guided meditation

7.20pm - 7:30pm: Short check-in

7:30pm - 8pm: Deeper check-in

8pm - 8:10pm: Break

8:10pm - 8:50pm: Focused work

8:50pm - 9pm: Check-out

About Eli:

"I’m passionate about helping people develop self-awareness and self-expression. I’ve been a daily meditator for five years and I’ve trained in men’s coaching. A few months ago I left Melbourne, where I was working at a start-up to create a stop-smoking hypnosis app, and moved here to launch my own coaching business. You can check out my website here (https://elifreeman.co). Since I’ve arrived I’ve found some beautiful community and want to do my bit to support it :)"
